On Thursday’s episode of ABC’s talk show ‘The View,’ the cohosts touched on the death of actress and pop culture icon Raquel Welch.

Joy Behar spoke on the actress’ impact, saying “You know, they don’t make any sex symbols like that. I don’t know any present [sex symbols],” before Sunny Hostin chimed in saying,

“Well, Kim Kardashian is kind of a sex symbol,” prompting an array of boos from the audience.

After the audience’s reaction, Whoopi Goldberg said, “you can’t even put them in the same [category],” before deciding to leave the topic and continue to the show’s next Hot Topic.

Not the first time the Kardashian is mentioned on ‘The View’

‘The View’ regularly speaks on the latest in trending topics, from entertainment to politics.

When Kim Kardashian infamously said, “get your f------ ass up and work. It seems like nobody wants to work these days,” in a 2022 Variety interview, the hosts of ‘The View’ did not take too kindly to her message.

“A leg up is what you need in this world,” said Joy Bahar.

Sunny Hostin continued the critique, saying, “It helps to be born rich like she was. She had a wealthy father, she had a mother who was a business manager. She’s pretty. I just think that people who are born on third base shouldn’t be talking about how easy it is to hit a home run.”

Goldberg speaks out against Kardashian’s power

In December, Charlize Theron professed her love of reality TV and that “the marketplace of what Kim Kardashian represents [...] has way more value than what Meryl Streep, one of the greatest actresses working, does.

Whoopi Goldberg did not feel the same way.

“I don’t think that’s true. Kim Kardashian cannot get a movie greenlit, or it would’ve happened,” she said on the December 9 episode of ‘The View.’ “She can’t do that.”

She continues, “She can get television shows made, maybe, but that’s about it. She can maybe be instrumental in helping things happen, but I’ll tell you, Charlize, you’ve got more pull in the industry than I’ve got in the industry. You get stuff done faster than I can.”
