What caused Raquel Welch’s death?

According to her family, the 82-year-old died following a brief illness. They have not given further details at this time.

“The legendary bombshell actress of film, television, and stage, passed away peacefully early this morning after a brief illness,” Welch’s representative Steve Sauer said in a statement to People news.

“Her career spanned over 50 years starring in over 30 films and 50 television series and appearances. The Golden Globe winner, in more recent years, was involved in a very successful line of wigs.”

“Raquel leaves behind her two children, son Damon Welch and her daughter, Tahnee Welch,” he added.

Welch is survived by her two now adult children Tahnee and Damon Welch. Tahnee is 61 and worked as an actress and model, while Damon is 63 and has also worked as an actor.

TMZ first reported that Welch had passed away.

Private life

Although Welch had a long and successful career in the public eye, she was rarely seen in her later years. Her last significant public spotting was in September 2021.

Welch was seen visiting a Beverly Hills auction house, which was her first public appearance in two years. Daily Mail describes the star as looking youthful and stylish throughout her 45-minute appearance.

Her 2021 auction house visit was the last time the megastar was publicly spotted and photographed.

Successful career

Welch has long been considered a successful actress and international sex symbol. She made her career debut in the mid-1960s, with breakout roles in ‘Fantastic Voyage’ and ‘One Million Years B.C.’ both in 1966.

She would later go on to star in many more films, eventually winning a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Comedy or Musical. This award was for her 1973 role in ‘The Three Musketeers.’

Later in her life, Welch ventured into more business opportunities such as a jewelry and skincare line. Her most notable business achievement remains her successful line of wigs.
