This country music legend drops out of tour due to health issues: “Thanks and see you soon”

Doug Gray, the lead singer and founding member of The Marshall Tucker Band, is taking a break from the group’s touring schedule due to health issues.

The band made the announcement in an Instagram post last week but stated that the ‘All Our Friends’ tour will continue.

“Taking care of business as I always do,” Gray, 76, said in the post. “Thanks and see you soon.”

The Marshall Tucker Band added that Gray will still be “fully involved in all aspects of the tour” while he sits out.

South Carolina native Gray is the only original and active member of The Marshall Tucker Band. The band were formed in the early 70s and formed part of the Southern rock genre with a fusion of country, rock and jazz.

The band released its self-titled debut album in 1973 and gained recognition from touring with the Allman Brothers Band. The Marshall Tucker Band further gained success throughout the rest of the ’70s with most of their albums going gold. The pinnacle of the band’s commercial success came with the platinum-certified 1977 album “Carolina Dreams” and its top 15 single “Heard It in a Love Song.”
