Back then, Stallone was just 22 and struggling to survive. He didn’t even have a place to sleep, let alone imagine that one day he’d become a multimillionaire and one of the most beloved actors in big-screen history. He spent nights in a bus station until fate intervened: he saw a flyer advertising a casting call for an adult film. The offer? $200 for two days of work. For Stallone, that was enough to take the plunge.
Years later, in an interview with Playboy, he admitted the decision was purely out of necessity, saying: “It was either do that movie or rob someone, because I was at the end - the very end - of my rope.”
At the time, $200 was a lifeline, a way to get off the streets for a while and keep chasing a dream that, as we all know, he achieved spectacularly by the mid-1970s.
Entitled The Italian Stallion, Stallone’s adult film was panned by critics and faded into obscurity - until, ironically, after Rambo became a global phenomenon, collectors started hunting for it.
