Timothée Chalamet chooses the three best actors of all time: the “GOATs” of Hollywood

The famous two-time Oscar-nominated actor opens up about his favorite actors and reveals the last message Leonardo DiCaprio sent him.

Timothee Chalamet GOAT Hollywood

Timothée Chalamet, the New York–born star of Dune, Don’t Look Up, Wonka, and Dune: Part Two, is one of Hollywood’s hottest names right now. At just 29, he’s already earned two Oscar nominations for Best Actor — first for Call Me by Your Name and most recently for A Complete Unknown, where he plays a young Bob Dylan.

In one of his most unusual interviews yet, Chalamet sat shotgun in a Lucid Motors electric sedan — billed as the fastest in the world — while NBA players Josh Hart and Jalen Brunson peppered him with rapid-fire questions as the car tore around a closed track.

Chalamet’s Hollywood GOATs

When asked to name his greatest actors of all time, Chalamet didn’t hesitate:

  1. Denzel Washington is the GOAT.”
  2. Christian Bale is the second GOAT.”
  3. Joaquin Phoenix is the strange GOAT.”

The choices make sense — Chalamet starred alongside Bale in the 2017 western drama Hostiles.

Best villain ever

Pressed on the greatest villain in film or TV history, Chalamet was equally decisive: Heath Ledger’s Joker in The Dark Knight. The late actor’s iconic performance came opposite Bale’s Batman in Christopher Nolan’s blockbuster.

A text from DiCaprio

When asked who he’d most want to receive a message from, Chalamet picked Leonardo DiCaprio — and revealed he had just gotten one. “He fried me today,” Chalamet laughed. “He said, ‘I heard you shaved your head. Tell me it’s not true.’” The viral haircut is believed to be tied to his return as Paul Atreides in Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming Dune: Part Three.

Chalamet considers DiCaprio a mentor. The two worked together on Don’t Look Up, and during the press tour DiCaprio gave him a piece of advice he’s never forgotten: “No hard drugs and no superhero movies.”

Still, Chalamet admits he wouldn’t rule out a superhero role if the right opportunity came along — especially since he’s a huge fan of Nolan’s Batman trilogy.
