Tyga just bought Avril Lavigne an $80,000 custom diamond necklace
The rapper purchased the diamond necklace just a month after dating rumors began
Tyga appears to be showering his newest love interest, Avril Lavigne, with diamonds. The rapper had a custom $80,000 necklace made for the ‘Sk8er Boi’ singer, complete with her name written in diamonds, the letter “A” reminiscent of the anarchy symbol over pink hearts, two skulls and crossbones with pink bows, and the acronym “MFP” standing for “Motherf—ing Princess”, as Lavigne refers to herself.
Lavigne was spotted wearing the chain on Thursday night while the couple was out in Los Angeles.
An expensive gesture of love
Eric Mavani, the celebrity jeweler who created the Mavani & Co Jewelry piece, told TMZ that the chain contains 50 carats of white diamonds, black diamonds, and pink sapphires.
Reportedly, Tyga had reached out to Mavani three weeks earlier to design the necklace for his beau, meaning he had the necklace designed at the height of their dating rumors during Paris Fashion Week.
It was during Paris Fashion Week that the couple first locked lips for the world to see, confirming their relationship, although neither has publicly come out with a statement to define what they are to one another, thus never putting a label on their relationship.
But Tyga’s gesture of purchasing such a high-value gift could potentially change all of that.
Before the kiss, the couple had been spotted dining together in Los Angeles on February 19, a day before Lavigne called off her engagement to musician Mod Sun.
Mod Sun may not be a fan of Tyga
The news of the necklace comes after it was reported that at a recent Mod Sun concert, supporting rapper Travie McCoy began chanting “F— Tyga!”, with the crowd joining in. Mod Sun ran backstage as the chanting began.
The couple split this February after two years together and after almost a year of being engaged.
For Mod Sun the split came as a surprise and said that he had no idea the ‘Complicated’ singer had decided to call it quits.
“They were together and engaged as of three days ago when he left for tour, so if anything has changed, that’s news to him,” a Mod Sun representative told Page Six last month.
