What are the lyrics to J. Cole’s “7 Minute Drill”?
Kendrick Lamar appears to be the target of a diss track in J. Cole’s “Might Delete Later” project.
J. Cole caught the world by surprise with the release of his “Might Delete Later” project on steaming services on Friday. Although one man who may not have been shocked by the content of it is Kendrick Lamar, who appears to be the target of “diss” lyrics on the track “7 Minute Drill”.
What happened between J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar and Drake?
That hasn’t been explicitly confirmed by the “No Role Models” singer but plenty have put two and two together after the rap duo, along with Drake, previously traded blows in earlier songs, despite collaborating together earlier on in their careers.
J. Cole featured on Drake’s “First Person Shooter,” released in October last year, which refers to the trio as “the big three”. Lamar, however, didn’t seem best pleased about that in his verse in Future and Metro Boomin’s “Like That”, which came out a couple of weeks ago.
“Motherf*** the big three, n****, it’s just big me,” K. Dot fumes, also accusing J. Cole and Drake of “sneak dissing” and claiming his legacy will outlast theirs.
And it hasn’t taken J. Cole long to (allegedly) respond, with the lyrics to “7 Minute Drill” seemingly an extension of the pair’s war of words. It’s safe to say you probably don’t need to read between the lines too much.
“7 Minute Drill” lyrics
J. Cole’s alleged “diss” lyrics in “7 Minute Drill”
“Your first s*** was classic, your last s*** was tragic/ Your second s*** put n***** to sleep, but they gassed it/ Your third s*** was massive and that was your prime/ I was trailing right behind and I just now hit mine/ Now I’m front of the line with a comfortable lead/ How ironic, soon as I got it, now he want somethin’ with me
“He averagin’ one hard verse like every thirty months or somethin’/ If he wasn’t dissin’, then we wouldn’t be discussin’ ‘em/ Lord, don’t make me have to smoke this n**** ‘cause I f*** with him/ But push come to shove, on this mic, I will humble him.”
With J. Cole heavily suggesting the target of his ire is past his best and insisting this is just “a warning shot,” we may well see more beef between all parties involved in the future.
