Dave Grohl is facing the fury of the Swifties. The 55-year-old singer is in the middle of controversy after making statements about Taylor Swift during the most recent Foo Fighters show, held on June 22 at the London Stadium in the United Kingdom.

According to various videos shared on social networks, the rock legend, who had previously defended Swift for re-recording her entire discography, took a jab at the artist by insinuating that her musicians do not play live. The controversial comment came after Grohl mentioned that his concert was taking place at the same time as Swift’s at Wembley Stadium.

When he commented on it, some boos were heard from the audience, which Grohl tried to calm by responding, “I’m telling you, man, you don’t want to suffer the wrath of Taylor Swift.” However, Grohl ignored his own words as mere seconds later, he compared the quality of his shows with those of the 34-year-old superstar.

“We like to call our tour ‘The Errors Tour’. We’ve had more than two eras and more than a few f--king errors as well. Just a couple. That’s because we really play live. What?! Just saying. You guys like raw, live rock ‘n’ roll music, right? You came to the right f---ing place,” the musician said before starting to play “Statues.”

Once the videos went viral, Swifties took to social media to attack the former Nirvana member with comments like “First Damon Albarn, now it’s Dave Grohl. Aging rock stars feeling threatened by a woman. Who’s afraid of little Taylor Swift? These men are.”

“Dave Grohl undermining a woman’s talent and success wasn’t on my 2024 bingo card, but here we are! This is so embarrassing of you!”

Taylor’s swift response

Dave Grohl’s comments apparently reached the ears of Swift herself.

Despite not responding directly to Grohl’s remarks, she started her June 23 show with what seemed to be a dig at the musician.

During her concert on Sunday night, she thanked her band and said they would “be playing live for you for three and a half hours tonight. They deserve this so much, and so does every one of my fellow performers. And you just gave that to us so generously, we will never forget it.”
