The rap beef between Kendrick Lamar and Drake has taken another twist with the introduction of Kanye West into the equation. The Atlanta rapper, who is never one to be far from the headlines, had his say on the latest developments that have rocked the world of hip-hop for weeks.

Invited onto The Download podcast, Kanye was asked about his opinion regarding J Cole’s apology to Kendrick Lamar. After releasing the ‘7 Minute Drill’ diss track against Lamar, J Cole quickly waved the white flag and dropped out of the beef, publicly calling the song “the lamest sh*t I did in my f*ckin’ life”.

Opinions have varied on the reply, with some claiming that it is not in the spirit of this competitive game to go back after dropping a diss track, while others have praised his sincerity and maturity.

What did Kanye West say about the J Cole apology?

West, sitting there with his titanium teeth, replied “F*** all that p*ssy sh*t” to the host when the topic of Cole was brought up. He repeated this line a few times before saying that “you can’t run now”.

I don’t listen to J Cole”, West bit back, “but someone told me he had a song called ‘False Idols’, which is halfway about me”. The song, released in 2016 is called ‘False Prophets’, targets Kanye with lyrics such as “Ego in charge of every move, he’s a star/ And we can’t look away due to the days when he caught our hearts. He’s falling apart but we deny it/ Just to find the half-*ssed shit he drop, we always buy it.”

Where's Lucian? Serve your master, n-a
You caught a little bag for your masters, didn't ya?
Lifetime deal, I feel bad for n-as (Bad for n-as)
Y'all so outta sight, outta mind
I can't even think of a Drake line
Play J. Cole, get the p*ssy dry
Play this sh*t back a hundred-thirty times

The official version of the song was quickly removed from YouTube, with Sony behind the decision due to copyright reasons.

Will Kendrick Lamar reply to Drake?

Kendrick has stayed silent ever since his ‘Like That’ verse dropped in a surprise feature on Future and Metro Boomin’s album three weeks ago. Since then, fans have been waiting eagerly for the West Coast rapper to bring out new material; in contrast, Drake has been active on social media, as well as dropping two tracks.

The first one entitledPush Ups’ came before the stunning use of AI used on his second track ‘Taylor Made Freestyle’, which imitates the voices of both Tupac and Snoop Dogg.

However, despite Drake making plenty of noise via Instagram stories, we have not seen any movement from Kendrick or his representatives who have all chose to stay incredibly quiet. As of yet we have no idea of when Kendrick will drop a track, although podcaster Joe Budden recently said that something was on the way, so hopefully it’s just a matter of time.
