Zoe Saldana is a Hollywood powerhouse known for her roles in some of the biggest sci-fi franchises and highest-grossing films of all time. All the blockbusters she has starred in have a combined box office of over $14 billion!

Saldana’s journey began on the stage. She trained as a dancer in her youth which transitioned well into acting; she landed her first film role in the year 2000′s “Center Stage” as an aspiring ballerina. Early recognition came alongside Britney Spears in the 2002 film “Crossroads.”

Warp Speed into Sci-Fi Stardom

The year 2009 marked a turning point in Saldaña’s career. She stepped into the iconic role of Nyota Uhura in the rebooted “Star Trek” film series, bringing a fresh take to the beloved communications officer.

But it was James Cameron’s epic “Avatar” that truly launched her into the stratosphere. Saldana’s portrayal of Neytiri, the strong and resourceful Na’vi princess, captivated audiences and helped the film become the highest-grossing movie ever made at the time.

She reprised this role in the long-awaited sequel, “Avatar: The Way of Water” (2022).

Joining the Guardians and Beyond

Saldana’s sci-fi dominance continued as Gamora, the green-skinned assassin, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” (2014). Her comedic timing and action hero prowess were a perfect fit for the quirky spacefaring crew.

She continued as Gamora in the sequels and other MCU films, solidifying her place in the pop culture zeitgeist.

Beyond the Blockbusters

Saldana isn’t afraid to branch out from big-budget films. She delivered a powerful performance in the 2014 miniseries “Rosemary’s Baby”, a remake of the classic of the same name.
