When and where to watch the finale of ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’
‘TSITP’ fans are to get their final instalment of the hit romantic drama this week, as the coming-of-age series reaches its climax.
The Summer I Turned Pretty, Amazon’s hit coming-of-age series that revolves around a dramatic love triangle, is this week poised for its 26th and last ever episode.
Based on Jenny Han’s trilogy of novels, TSITP stars Lola Tung as Isabel “Belly” Conklin, a young woman caught between two sibling suitors: Conrad and Jeremiah Fisher, played by Christopher Briney and Gavin Casalegno, respectively.
The show premiered in July 2022 with a seven-episode season one, before returning for a further eight episodes in July and August 2023. The third and final season has been unfolding each week this summer, ever since a two-episode premiere on July 16.
When does The Summer I Turned Pretty’s finale come out?
TSITP’s concluding episode - the 11th instalment in season three - is scheduled to be released on Amazon Prime Video on Wednesday, September 17. In the U.S., it’s expected to drop at around 3:00 a.m. ET/midnight PT.
While every TSITP episode released so far is already available on Amazon’s streaming service, you can also view seasons one and two in full and free of charge on Prime Video’s official YouTube channel.
How much is a Prime Video subscription?
You can get Prime Video as part of an Amazon Prime membership, which costs $14.99 per month or $139 per year in the U.S. You can also purchase a Prime Video subscription separately, for $8.99 per month.
No fourth season - but will there be a TSITP spin-off?
Since The Summer I Turned Pretty made its debut three years ago, it has established itself as a veritable streaming sensation, dominating Prime Video’s viewing charts.
For example, the streamer recently revealed that season three racked up 25 million global viewers in the first week after its release.
Han, who created the series by adapting her books herself, told Deadline: “Seeing how The Summer I Turned Pretty has resonated with millions - how the story has sparked so many fan conversations, sent the books back on the bestseller lists, and inspired so many viewers’ reactions across social media - it’s everything I could have hoped for and more.”
Speaking to the L.A. Times this week ahead of TSITP’s finale, Han was adamant that it is “best” not to extend the series for a fourth run, despite its success.
“To be able to say when, to be able to call it, is rare when something is doing well and making people money,” she said. “But I have to be true to myself and what I think is best for the story.”
However, the 45-year-old didn’t rule out the possibility of returning to the TSITP world for a spin-off.
“I’m definitely open to doing more stories in the universe‚" she said. “It’s just that I want to figure out what the story is that I feel so compelled to tell it that I’m willing to spend the next few years throwing my whole body into it.”
