More details of the 81st Annual Golden Globe Awards are starting to emerge. The annual event recognizes professionals for their artistic excellence in film and television during the past calendar year. What we do know so far is that the ceremony will return back to its prime time Sunday night slot with two new categories added to the agenda - the Golden Globe for best performance in stand-up comedy on television; and a Golden Globe for cinematic and box office achievement. The official name of the award is the Cecil B. DeMille Award, in honor of the late director and producer, the first recipient, in 1944.

Also confirmed is the date when the list of nominees for the 2024 Golden Globes will be announced. Stand-up comedian Cedric ‘The Entertainer’ and actor Wilmer Valderrama have been named as hosts when the nominees are revealed on Monday 11 December 2023 - the event starts at the early time of 8 a.m. ET / 5 a.m. PT and will be broadcast live on CBS Mornings.

When will the 2024 Golden Globes ceremony take place?

The awards ceremony will take place on Sunday 7 January 2024 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles. The Beverly Hilton, located where the Wilshire and Santa Monica Boulevards meet, opened in 1955 and has hosted the ceremony since 1961. The gala will be broadcast live in the United States on CBS with a live stream available on Paramount+.
