Bob Barker, historic host of the famous game show The Price Is Right and animal rights activist, died at the age of 99 from natural causes.

His agent told the outlet that Barker died peacefully at his home in August 2023 in Los Angeles.

During his last years, the famous presenter had several health problems. According to TMZ, he had several minor bouts of skin cancer over the years and suffered a bad fall in 2015 and 2017 that sent him to the ER. He fell again in 2019 and was treated again at the hospital. In 2018, he was taken by ambulance twice with back problems.

Although Bob had an extended family who had supported them over the years, he had no children with his wife Dorothy Jos, who died in 1981. Barker never remarried.

Bob Barker and his game show career

Although Bob Barker became an icon of The Price Is Right, in reality, his game show career began much earlier.

Barker got his start on game shows after legendary producer Ralph Edwards discovered him while listening to Bob’s radio show and signed him to television.

Barker began hosting Truth or Consequences in 1956, which he starred in until 1975. He also hosted other shows, including Dream Girl of ‘67, Tattletales, Miss Universe and The Price is Right, which he produced and hosted until 2007.

He also expanded his appearances to other television shows and movies, usually playing himself. He appeared with Adam Sandler in Happy Gilmore”; played the alleged biological father of Neil Patrick Harris in How I Met Your Mother and played himself in many others shows like Futurama, SpongeBob, The Nanny and many others.
