When is The Cure’s new album coming out in the US and how many songs will it have?

It’s fair to say that the release of 2008′s 4:13 Dream left many Cure fans underwhelmed with the record both a critical and commercial disappointment for the Robert Smith fronted band.

The global tours continued over the years with the band still a phenomenal live force famous for their three hour plus live shows but a sepulchral radio silence ensued when it came to releasing new music.

There were rumblings of excitement back in 2019 when Smith told Rolling Stone Magazine that the band had recorded 19 new songs ranging from 10-12 minutes long, and that he was keen to release a new album in Halloween of that year, which failed to materialise. The Cure frontman now regrets making these comments as he admits that the songs were in their infancy at the time.

Fast forward to 2022 and the band embarked on a 90-date live tour over 2022 and 2023 entitled ‘Shows of a Lost World’ where several of the new tracks got a live airing but at that time there was still no confirmed release date for what is set to be the band’s fourteenth studio offering.

Alone release

Everything changed on 26 September of this year with the release of the lead single, “Alone”, a brooding six minute opus with a lengthy instrumental intro and confirmation of ‘Songs of a Lost World’ with the album scheduled for a 1 November release date globally.

The eight track album will be released commercially across seven physical formats along with a digital release with the definitive tracklist expected to be revealed in the weeks prior to the release with tracks such as ‘Warsong’, ‘A Fragile Thing’ and ‘And Nothing is Forever’ all expected to feature.
