The 2023 Country Music Television awards took place Sunday night at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas, with the fan-based vote awards ceremony recognizing excellence in the industry.

The hosts and performances

Hosted by nominees Kelsea Ballerini and Kane Brown, who also performed at the event, with Brown’s wife, Katelyn Brown, joining him onstage to perform their 2022 song, ‘Thank God’. The couple won the Video of the Year award for the song, and became the first husband and wife team to win the category.

Other performers to light up the CMT Awards stage were Gwen Stefani, Carrie Underwood, LeAnn Rimes, Keith Urban, and Alanis Morissette. Various artists participated in tribute performances for Stevie Ray Vaughan and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Notably, country music star Carrie Underwood, though she holds the record for most career CMT awards with 25 total wins total, did not win any awards Sunday evening.
