Why do Barcelona have a heart on El Clásico jersey and who is Karol G?
The Colombian singer is destined for a global boost with FC Barcelona sporting her logo on their jersey in El Clásico.
With just seven games remaining in the 2023-24 LaLiga season, FC Barcelona trailed leaders Real Madrid by eight points as they arrived at the Santiago Bernabéu for El Clasico on Sunday evening, where the roof was closed for the first time.
The Catalan side had a magnificent opportunity to ensure that the run-in to the league is a genuine title-race but to ensure this happens, Barcelona need to take maximum points from their visit to the Spanish capital for the biggest game in club soccer. But as the game kicked off, fans were quick to spot a new logo on the jersey, that of Karol G.
Karol G Bernabéu boost
Eagle eyed followers on Sunday started asking what the slight amend on the front of the famous azulgrana striped shirt was, as the standard Spotify logo was swapped for another one featuring a heart made from barbed wire and the word Karol G.
The 33-year-old reggaeton artist Karol G was the latest to adorn the Barça shirt for El Clasico, which for many is the biggest club game in global football. The Colombian follows the steps of Drake, Rosalia and the Rolling Stones who have all had their logos adorn the iconic ‘azul-grana’ Barça jersey as part of the club’s sponsorship deal with music streaming platform Spotify.
The Medellin born star is currently one of the hottest properties on the music scene and is on the South American leg of her ‘Mañana Sera Bonito’ tour and the singer herself will grace the Bernabeu later this summer and is set to play four nights in the newly revamped stadium in the Spanish capital next June.
The Colombian star has received several awards and nominations including five Latin Grammy Awards (including Album of the Year), one Grammy Awards, four Billboard Music Awards, three MTV Europe Music Awards among others.
