Taylor Swift wrapped up a trio of performances at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida on Saturday night, with fans once again treated to another spectacular show that included all of her hit songs.

The 33-year-old, as she’s done at every show on the ‘Eras Tour’ so far, delivered two surprise songs, ‘Mad Woman’ and ‘Mean’, during the acoustic portion of her concert.

However, it looks as though Swift is changing that rule ahead of her next stop at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas when the ‘Eras Tour’ resumes on Friday, April 21.

Why Taylor Swift is changing her ‘Eras Tour’ surprise songs rule

Up until now Swift has followed her rule of changing the surprise songs for each show on the ‘Eras Tour’.

However, the singer added a caveat to the rule during her show in Tampa on April 14.

“Basically when I started the tour, I was like, ‘In the acoustic section, I am never repeating a song. I’m never doing songs more than once.’ But now I’m like, ‘There are so many songs I want to do more than once,’” Swift said in clip captured by a fan and posted to TikTok.

“So, I’m making a little caveat to the rule, which is that if [a song] is on ‘Midnights’, I can do it however many times I want, because ‘Midnights’ is the most accurate picture of my life to date.”

Swift’s change comes after she announced the rule at the first show of the ‘Eras Tour’ in Glendale, Arizona back on March 17.

“The plan, the goal, would be to play different songs every single night and never repeat one. Right? So that when you heard one on this tour, you would know it’s the only time that I was going to play it in the acoustic set,” said Swift.

“Unless — caveat — unless I mess it up so badly, that I have to do it over again in some other city. Send your best wishes towards me that I don’t do that.”

Swift has shown she’s willing to change other aspects of her ‘Eras Tour’

The change isn’t the first Swift has made to her ‘Eras Tour’ since it first began.

The singer recently ditched being taken to the stage on a janitor cart after it was sniffed out by fans. Instead, she burst onstage through a trapdoor while dressed in a sparkling bodysuit and knee-high boots.

She also made a change to her setlist for a performance at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas which fans believe hinted at the news of her breakup with boyfriend Joe Alwyn.

Swift also changed the song she uses when she heads off stage for a costume change. She previously used ‘Everything Has Changed’, a song about a happy relationship prior to news of her breakup, but has instead now switched to ‘Holy Ground’, a song about failed relationships.
