Why was Ian McKellen hospitalized?

Actor Ian McKellen, famous for playing Gandalf in The Lord of the Rings, and Magneto in X-Men, has been hospitalized after falling from a stage in London.

Actor Ian McKellen has been hospitalized after an accident that occurred as he performed in a play. The 85-year-old actor, famous for giving life to “Gandalf” in “The Lord of the Rings” and “Magneto” in the “X-Men” series, had to be transferred to a nearby hospital after falling off the stage during a presentation of the production “Player Kings” at the Noël Coward Theatre, in London, England.

According to eyewitnesses, the British actor was performing a fight scene when he lost his balance and fell off the stage. McKellen was reportedly conscious as he was heard calling for help after falling. However, the show had to be canceled and the public was evacuated from the venue

A statement from the producers of Player Kings thanked the public for their well wishes after the actor’s fall, and said that he is in good spirits and on his way to “a speedy and full recovery.”

The producers added that the show was cancelled to allow McKellen to rest. “Those affected will be contacted by their point of purchase as soon as possible tomorrow,” they said.

McKellen was playing the role of John Falstaff in the production of Henry IV, parts one and two.
