American rapper Cardi B hit headlines last weekend when she was caught on camera aggressively throwing a microphone at a “fan” in the crowd at Drai’s Beachclub in Las Vegas. In the heat of the moment, the 30-year-old reacted in retaliation after said “fan” launched their drink - which appeared to be water - at her as she performed on stage.

The incident was filmed and showed security staff rushing to the front of the audience, where they confronted the offender and recovered the star’s mic. It later emerged that the New York native had asked another fan to spray her with water from behind earlier in the concert, which prompted a second reveller to take matters into their own hands. However, Cardi B understandably didn’t appreciate getting a face full of water and reacted accordingly (in her eyes, at least).

Concertgoer presses battery charges against Cardi B

Although there has been no news as to whether any concertgoers were hurt, police in Las Vegas did confirm that a woman (who may or may not have been the perpetrator) was struck by the mic and filed a battery report.

But after a short investigation, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department have said that the rapper won’t face any charges because of insufficient evidence (despite the footage).

The LVMPD’s statement, released by PA news agency, reads as follows:

“After a thorough review of this case and with the consultation from the Clark County District Attorney’s Office, this case has been closed as having insufficient evidence. No charges will be filed in relation to this case.”

Cardi B’s microphone auctioned on Ebay: what is the highest bid?

The microphone in question has now made its way onto eBay thanks Scott Fisher, who manages The Wave, a Las Vegas-based audio company that offer technical support to venues. If you’re interested, you have until 8 August to make a bid, but you’ll have to part with around $100,000 to stand a chance of winning the auction, with the current highest bid standing at $99,900.

Fishes says all proceeds from the sale will be split between two charities, Friendship Circle Las Vegas and Wounded Warrior Project. “I was encouraged to sell the mic but decided I would try to do something good”, he writes on the listing.
