On a monthly basis, the Social Security Administration sends money to various beneficiaries, including retired workers and survivors. It also mandates disability payments, which include the Supplemental Security Income program and Social Security Disability Insurance.

The SSA has already sent some payments for this month and is preparing to send the last payment on July 26.

According to the schedule established by the agency, generally Supplemental Security Income benefits are sent on the first day of each month. However, if the first day of the month falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the payment is advanced to the last Friday of the previous month.

Meanwhile, on the third day of each month, the SSA sends money to beneficiaries who started receiving their payments before May 1997. If the third day of the month falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the payment is also advanced.

The rest of the checks are sent on Wednesdays, according to the date of birth of the beneficiaries:

  • Second Wednesday of the month: retirees with a date of birth between the 1st and 10th
  • Third Wednesday: beneficiaries born between the 11th and 20th
  • Fourth Wednesday: retirees born between the 21st and 31st

Taking into account the previous schedule, since the first day of July fell on a Saturday, the SSI payment for this month was brought forward and was sent on June 30. That is why SSI recipients received two payments in June, but have no payments scheduled in July.

In addition, this month, the SSA already sent payment to beneficiaries who began receiving their benefits before May 1997. On July 12, payment was sent to beneficiaries with dates of birth between the 1st and 10th. On July 19, money was sent to beneficiaries with dates of birth between the 11th and 20th.

The last payment of the month, scheduled for July 26, will be sent to beneficiaries with a date of birth between the 21st and 31st.

Payments are sent via direct deposit to payees who have shared their banking information with SSA. The rest is sent via postal mail.
