But when it happens inside your own house or, rather, under it, is can be a touch more complicated. Although it may seem unlikely, this is exactly what has happened to a resident of Wildwood, in the US state of New Jersey.
Without needing type of fancy detector to find it, he came across stacks of cash from the 1930s.

When inflation works in your favor
The money was found under his house, and was revealed to him while he was renovating his home, as lucky, and appropriately named, Rich Gilson explained to Fox29.
“My wife was painting and I told her she had to come see this. You won’t believe what I just found.”
The resident of Wildwood, on Andrews Avenue, confessed that at first he thought it was garbage, instead of the more than 2,000 dollars in cash that was there after removing soil from the porch of his home.
The loot consisted of two rolls of cash, stuffed with $10 and $20 bills. Taking current inflation into account, this $2,000 would now be worth close to $43,000. All the banknotes, which were in perfect condition, were minted in 1934.
The treasure will stay at home
Gilson, trying to explain how they got there, questions whether “someone robbed a bank and buried it, or didn’t trust banks in 1934 during the height of the recession.” In any case, the fortunate discoverer assures the media outlet that he will be keeping the money and will not spend any of it, since he considers it a valuable part of history.
