Update:

While the Moon is the largest celestial body in the night sky, it remains an astounding distance of over 243,888 miles away from Earth. This distance contributes to the allure that the Moon holds, especially as it waxes into its fuller form—an awe-inspiring spectacle that has captivated human hearts and imaginations for countless millennia. NASA’s Artemis Program, which aims to send NASA and Canadian astronauts to the Moon, posted beautiful images captured in New Orleans of January’s full Moon.

NASA explains that a full Moon becomes visible from Earth when we can see “the Sun’s illumination of the entire day side of the Moon.” The cycle from New Moon to Waning Crescent takes around 29.5 days, meaning if you miss the Snow Moon, you can still try to catch a glimpse of the ten remaining full lunar events that will take place this year.

When will you be able to catch February’s full Moon?

Mark your calendars for February’s spectacular full moon, set to grace the night on Wednesday, February 12. This event promises to leave all viewers in wonder, especially those brave enough to endure the winter chill. Known as the Snow Moon, February’s full moon gets its name from the heavy snowfall that often occurs during this month, reports Almanac.com. According to NASA, the Snow Moon will be best observed just before 9:00 a.m. EST on Wednesday.

This timing allows watchers under clear skies on Thursday or Friday to still catch a glimpse of the full Moon as it begins its descent into the waning phase once more, inviting all to enjoy its glowing presence in the sky. For those who do plan to post up and take in the beauty of the Snow Moon, the Museum of Science in Boston, Massachusetts, highlighted that you might be able to see Leo constellations.
