Every year, people across the United States make resolutions to tackle one thing or another that they’ve been meaning to do. It should come as no surprise according to a Forbes Health survey that top of the list in 2024 was to improve their fitness. Second though, with 38 percent of the 1,000 asked, was improving their finances.

Whether you have a full-time job and are looking to pick up some extra cash, or have more than enough time on your hands and don’t want to drain your savings, here are some in-demand side jobs for 2024 that might interest you.

Four in-demand side jobs to make some extra money in 2024

There are a number of side hustles that you can pick up to bring in a little extra money. Perennial favorites for many have been food delivery or rideshare driver. Others can put your language skills to work such as freelance writing or transcribing which can be done from the comfort of your home. CNBC reported that there are four that will be in demand this year, one of which could rake in up to $150 per hour.

Tour guide

People are traveling again with numbers returning to pre-pandemic levels. For those with an intimate knowledge of their local area and enjoy sharing that information with others, giving guided tours may be your thing.

You’ll get a chance to meet people visiting or even those that live nearby who are interested in learning more about their surroundings. As with just about everything there are websites that will help connect you with interested parties so that you can get started.

Athletics instructor for seniors

According to the AARP, every day 10,000 people in the US turn 65 and many of them are looking to pick up new activities in retirement. Becoming an instructor can pay handsomely with CNBC pointing out that one pickleball instructor on the TeachMe website charges over $140 per hour.

House helper

Some of those that got used to remote working and having extra time to get errands done, but now find themselves back in the office are looking for help. The going rate is around $15 to $30 per hour for doing people’s day-to-day errands or taking care of around the house chores.

AI specialist

Artificial intelligence has taken the world by storm over the past several months with new services like ChatGPT and photo-editing programs. For those who know how to effectively use these new technologies they could earn between $50 and $150 per hour.
