A 33-year-old woman says “enough” to office stress, quits her job, and now earns $40,000 a month with this plan.
Michelle Schroeder-Gardner’s life took a radical turn after she decided to leave her job as a financial analyst.

Michelle Schroeder-Gardner, a 33-year-old American woman, has achieved what many can only dream of - leaving the grueling pace of the office behind.
With an income of around €33,984 per month, she works just two hours a day and has managed to move her office to a boat, from which she travels the world with her family.
The journey wasn’t easy, but it was steady. Michelle started writing the blog Making Sense of Cents in 2011, documenting how she was paying off $40,000 in student debt. At the time, she was working as a financial analyst in an office. In just two years, her blog was generating enough income for her to quit her traditional job. That’s when she said “enough” to work-related stress.
Since then, she has dedicated herself to providing financial and investment advice, leveraging the reach of his blog, which has become extremely popular. Her content is based on automation techniques, such as the “batching” system, which allows her to write articles in bulk and schedule social media posts.
Michelle has diversified her income through three main avenues: affiliate marketing, blog advertising, and selling online courses to which she has over 130,000 subscribers. Her team, mostly made up of family members, supports her with editing, design, and email management.
Another lifestyle is possible
Currently, Michelle lives on a boat, works little, and travels freely. She has proven that not depending on a single income and knowing how to automate processes can allow for a lifestyle free from corporate stress. “Work less and earn more” is not just a mantra for her, but a method she applies. She clarifies that she doesn’t encourage everyone to follow her example, but she does defend that “working less doesn’t mean less income.”
For those who dream of leaving their office jobs, Michelle’s case offers a viable alternative if you have vision, knowledge, patience, and strategy. Her story is proof that changing course is not only possible, but can also be profitable and sustainable.
