Update:

Storm‑chasing duo Bryce Shelton and Paige Berdomas naturally bonded over their love of extreme weather, both online and in the field. After years in the storm‑chasing community, and more than a year of dating, Bryce seized a dramatic moment during a severe weather outbreak in South Dakota to pop the question to Paige.

On June 28, while tracking an EF‑3 tornado, Bryce had been secretly carrying a ring for weeks and, spotting the “perfect” twister, pulled over and dropped to one knee. Paige, caught off‑guard and still in her storm‑chasing gear, said “yes” as the tornado twisted behind them. She said “I torna-do”. She didn’t.

“It was absolutely incredible,” Paige actually said. “I couldn’t have asked for a better proposal.”

‘I had no idea about the proposal at all’

“We became friends in the weather Twittersphere a couple of years ago,” Berdomas exclusively told PEOPLE. “We got to know each other online and were really good friends. After other relationships we were each in ended, we became even closer. Last June, we decided to meet up for the first time to go on a storm chase. We started making YouTube videos together. Our chasing style is similar and we like interacting with other people on YouTube."

Bryce Shelton admitted that he had always planned to do it in South Dakota “in front of a photogenic tornado, because South Dakota is our favourite state, both of us. And it just worked out perfect.”

I had no idea about the proposal at all. It was just business as usual,” Berdomas admitted. “I don’t know how he kept it from me because we’re always in the same truck, in the same hotels, together all the time. So we were waiting for the storm to fire off and picked the one we were going after. We were watching the wall cloud form and then we saw a funnel and we were talking to our stream and everything.”
