Several Bank of America branches will soon close in the state of California, according to reports shared by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC).

Last year, several financial institutions, including Bank of America, closed hundreds of locations and this year, a few more closures are expected.

The main reason for this move is a change in the banking needs of its customers, as more and more transactions can be carried out outside of physical branches.

As financial institutions look to adapt to the continuing shift to online banking, some of their branches are no longer profitable, leading banks to their decision to close these locations. Here are the locations of the branches that will close in the coming months in California.

Bank of America branches closing soon in California

The pace of branch shutterings is slower than last year, but the country continues to experience them in 2024, including several in California this summer. The locations of the branches that will no longer provide service can be found on the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) website.

The OCC shares weekly newsletters that include a list of bank locations set to close up shop, as banking institutions must notify the OCC at least 90 days prior to their closing date through an Advance Notice of Branch Closing.

Considering that the announcement of the closure must be made at least three months in advance, we can estimate that the April and May newsletters include information on Bank of America branches that could begin to close as of this month of July and in August.

According to the Advance Notices of Closure for those months, these are the Bank of America branches that are closing this summer:

  • 5225 CANYON CREST DRIVE, RIVERSIDE, CA
  • 8949 CLAIREMONT MESA BLVD., SAN DIEGO, CA
  • 7404 JACKSON DRIVE, SAN DIEGO, CA
