Biden diagnosed with prostate cancer: these are the types and the treatment he will have to follow
The former U.S. President’s personal office announced on Sunday that he had been diagnosed with an “aggressive form” of prostate cancer.

Former U.S. President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with an “aggressive form” of prostate cancer that has metastasized to the bone, his office said in a statement on Sunday.
Biden, was diagnosed on after having experienced urinary symptoms, and he and his family are reviewing treatment options with doctors, the statement said.

“While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive which allows for effective management,” his office said.
The Pennsylvania native served as United States president from 2021 to 2025 but abruptly ended his bid for reelection last July as Vice President Kamala Harris took over as the party’s nominee but lost in November to Trump.
Biden’s treatment
Biden will begin a series of PSA (prostate-specific antigen), tests, digital rectal exams, and biopsies with treatment initiated only if the cancer shows signs of progression.
A series of therapies are available and these will be selected according to the 82-year-old’s particular situation.

Surgery is a potential option with radiation therapy, chemotherapy, ADT (Androgen deprivation therapy) hormone therapy, immunotherapy or targeted drug based therapies all possible options which his medical team can follow.
Biden’s team of doctors, urologists, radiation oncologists, and medical oncologists will discuss the risks and benefits of each approach and make an informed decision that align with the s needs of the former president.
