Bill Gates announces the long-awaited change to the workweek: We should be working “just like 2 or 3 days a week”
The Microsoft co-founder believes that AI will bring positive consequences and that it will not be able to replace all jobs.

Bill Gates always emphasizes the humanitarian potential of artificial intelligence. It is true that we are still reluctant to embrace AI; we tend to see more threats than opportunities in it. Will it replace us? Will it rebel against humans? Technological advancements often face initial resistance, but over time, they become integrated into our lives—most of the time, for the better.
This is the future Gates envisions for AI: a tool that will simplify many jobs and make information more accessible to millions of people. The Microsoft co-founder asserts that, within ten years, AI will provide “great medical advice, great tutoring”.
The introduction of AI into the medical field, for instance, will particularly benefit areas with limited access to doctors. In an interview on the podcast Unconfuse Me with Bill Gates, the Microsoft co-founder stated that while AI could replace certain professionals, the role of a doctor will remain difficult to substitute, though robots may be able to diagnose patients in the future.
In this regard, Gates predicted last month on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon that AI could take over routine tasks for workers, potentially reducing the workweek to just two or three days.
“You know, what will jobs be like? Should we, you know, just work like 2 or 3 days a week?” Gates asked Fallon. At the beginning of ChatGPT, Gates suggested that humanity could “eventually” reach a scenario where working three days a week becomes the norm.
