Meta-owned company Whatsapp is working on new features on one of the world’s most popular, encrypted, messaging platforms. WABetaInfo, a Whatsapp features wesbite, tracks upcoming features for the platform. In recent years the organisation has been contacted by Will Cathcart, head of Whatsapp, as well as Mark Zuckerberg in order to release information early. It’s sort of an unofficial comms department for Whatsapp.

On May 31, the wesbite published an article titled: WhatsApp is working on editing text messages! Here’s what it says:

“WhatsApp is developing a new option that will let us edit text messages, so we will finally be able to fix any typo after sending a message! Probably there won’t be an edit history to check previous versions of edited messages but since this feature is under development, their plans may change before releasing the feature. In addition, details about the time window to let people edit their messages are unknown at the moment, but we will immediately let you know when there is news.”

Interestingly, the feature is shown firstly on an Android OS device. The feature, when it is introduced, will be released later on iOS devices and desktop. There is currently no release date available.

What other features have been leaked to WABetaInfo?

The website has also reported that a new Beta for the desktop version of the messaging site will include a view once function for photos. Like Snapchat and Instagram, the feature means once a photo is viewed then it will disappear and can’t be seen again.

The desktop version will also get the ability to send voicenotes, a prominent feature that has been on the Android and iOS versions for some time.
