Can YouTuber MrBeast run for President? What is the minimum age required?
The popular influencer has made a big claim on social media, one that has caught attention given the Biden-Trump dilemma many voters are facing.
The choice currently on the ballot for the American people in the November presidential elections is between Joe Biden and Donald Trump. For many, this is like choosing between a punch in the face and a kick in the back. Neither overly desirable.
So, what about if there was another choice? Would that get the undecideds’ vote? Well, the idea of a fresh-faced influencer has certainly grabbed some intriguing glances. But could it really become a reality?
YouTuber Mr Beast posted on social media that he would run for president, saying, “If we lower the age to run for president I’ll jump in the race.”
But for anyone excited about voting for him in 2024, there is one problem. The US Constitution states that, among other things – although curiously not a felon – the candidate must be a natural-born U.S. citizen and at least 35 years old. Mr Beast – or James Stephen Donaldson to give him his birth name – is only 26, born on 7 May 1998. And his activities have hinted at where he sits on the political map.
You’ll have to wait a few years then if you want to see MrBeast in the White House. And what could go wrong in the meantime given the choices in front of us?
