Costco surprises shoppers with new $2.99 food court item: “One of the top 3 of all time”
Costco has launched a new treat and customers are already calling it one of the best items the warehouse chain has ever released.
Costco is famous for its food court, thanks to budget-friendly staples like its $1.50 hot dog combo, which has remained unchanged for nearly 40 years.
Unlike the hot dog and other classics such as pizza, Costco frequently rotates limited-time ice cream flavors. Earlier this year, the warehouse giant introduced the Double Chocolate Mint Sundae, which drew mixed reactions from customers, along with the Caramel Churro Sundae.
The new Costco ice cream flavor already becoming a fan favorite
The latest flavor added to Costco’s food court menu is quickly becoming one of the chain’s most popular desserts.
At select locations across the country, Costco has introduced the Strawberry Shortcake Sundae, a mix of creamy strawberry soft serve, shortcake pieces and strawberry topping. Like other specialty sundaes, the Strawberry Shortcake Sundae is priced at $2.99.
Food-focused social media account costcohotfinds, which regularly reviews Costco products, described the Strawberry Shortcake Sundae as “the best strawberry ice cream ever” and one of the “top 3 of all time.”
What’s currently on Costco’s food court menu?
Costco’s food court continues to offer a range of food and drink options, including the famous Chicken Bake, hot turkey and provolone sandwich, cheese pizza, pepperoni pizza, hot dog combo and chicken salad.
Its desserts and beverages include caramel cold brew, frozen mocha, strawberry banana smoothie, chocolate chip cookie, chocolate sundae and strawberry sundae. Sundae flavors can vary seasonally.
How much does a Costco membership cost?
Because Costco operates on a membership model, shoppers need an active membership to purchase items inside the warehouse and at most food court locations.
Costco currently offers three membership tiers in the United States: Gold Star, Business and Executive.
The annual Gold Star membership costs $65, while the Business membership is also priced at $65 per year. Executive membership costs $130 annually and includes additional perks, such as a 2% reward on qualifying purchases.
