Update:

Recent revelations about President Donald Trump’s health have raised questions about his ability to continue serving. Concerns intensified in recent days after the Republican president was photographed with a bruised hand concealed by makeup and noticeably swollen ankles.

In response, the White House issued a statement clarifying the president’s condition. A note from Dr. Sean Barbabella, President Trump’s physician, explained that the ankle swelling is due to chronic venous insufficiency—a benign and common condition, particularly among individuals over the age of 70.

In addition to an ultrasound, President Trump underwent a series of laboratory tests, including a complete blood count, comprehensive metabolic panel, coagulation profile, D-dimer, B-type natriuretic peptide, and cardiac biomarkers. All results were within normal limits. He also received an echocardiogram.

Could this diagnosis impact Trump’s ability to serve as president?

Chronic venous insufficiency is not considered a serious impediment to fulfilling the duties of the presidency. It is a non-life-threatening and typically non-disabling condition.
