Diego Suárez, an expert in longevity: “If you remove the fat from meat thinking that it clogs your arteries, you are making a serious mistake”
The health professional has shared a video on TikTok in which he explains the reasons why this product is not harmful to our body.
Meat is a staple in the diet of many people, who consume it almost daily. Even so, there are long-standing beliefs surrounding this food that recommend removing the fat to avoid possible long-term effects, such as clogged arteries.
However, it appears that this idea is nothing more than a belief. Diego Suárez, a longevity expert and social media content creator, shared a video on TikTok in which he explains why fat from meat is not harmful and argues that other products are actually damaging to our health.
“Are you one of those people who removes the fat from meat because you think it clogs your arteries? That is a serious mistake,” the health professional says at the beginning of the video. He then claims that what really causes weight gain “is not fat, but sugars and refined flours.”
“What happens when you eat sugar?” he asks. “Your blood glucose spikes, your pancreas releases insulin to bring it down, and insulin takes the excess and turns it into fat. That fat is stored and travels through your bloodstream in the form of triglycerides,” he explains.
To wrap up, Diego Suárez delivers a final message in defense of meat fat and against sugar. “Fat from meat does not increase your triglycerides, but sugar does. So the next time you eat a good piece of meat, do not be afraid of the fat. Be afraid of dessert,” he concludes.
Users push back
The video, which has racked up more than 100,000 views, 5,000 likes, and around 80 reactions, has drawn the attention of dozens of users who strongly disagreed with the longevity expert’s statements and advice. Many made their criticism clear in the comments section.
“What credentials do you have?”, “Stick to poetry”, “So I can eat all the pork rinds I want without gaining weight”, “Be afraid of dessert, brilliant”, and “You are truly enlightened” are just some of the many comments posted under the video.
