Direct payments of $914 from Social Security on June 1: who will receive it?

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) beneficiaries receive their payments on either the first or last day of each month, depending on the month. However, those who started receiving their Social Security benefits before May 1997 get their payments on the third day of every month. The rest of the Social Security checks are sent based on the birthday of the recipients:

  • Second Wednesday of the month: retirees born between the 1st and 10th day of any month
  • Third Wednesday: beneficiaries born between the 11th and 20th day of any month
  • Fourth Wednesday: retirees born between the 21st and 31st day of any month

Based on the schedule, SSI recipients will receive their June payment on the first day of the month. In addition, SSA will send a second payment on June 30 for the July check.

This second check is for the month of July, but it is sent on the last Friday of June because the first day of the month is Saturday. That’s why in June, SSI recipients will receive two payments, but in July, they will receive none.

The rest of the Social Security payments for June will be sent as follows:

  • 1° June: Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Recipient
  • June 2: Payees who began receiving payments before May 1997
  • June 14: Beneficiaries with a date of birth between 1 and 10
  • June 21: Beneficiaries with a date of birth between 11 and 20
  • June 28: Beneficiaries with a date of birth between 21 and 31
  • June 30: SSI Recipients
