Drake curse continues: He bet $1,500,000 on Argentina

Drake is known for his multimillion-dollar bets on high-profile sporting events, and the 2026 FIFA World Cup was no exception. The rapper once again bet on the Argentina national team and Lionel Messi, but once again the outcome was not what he expected.

The Canadian wagered $1,500,000 that Argentina would beat Spain in the final within 90 minutes. However, not only did the South American side fail to win in regulation time, but in the 106th minute FC Barcelona player Ferran Torres scored the goal that gave Spain the victory.

Had Argentina won in 90 minutes, Drake would have won $5.1 million.

In 2022 the rapper bet $1 million on Argentina. He lost that wager as well, since although Messi’s team were eventually crowned champions, the match did not finish in 90 minutes; it went to extra time and was decided on penalties.

How much money has Drake lost on sports betting?

For years, Drake has made headlines for losing high-profile wagers, fueling what many fans have dubbed the “Drake Curse.” While the nickname may be exaggerated, the numbers from his publicly known bets show that he is still in the red.

According to thedrakecurse.com, a website that tracks the “God’s Plan” rapper’s public sports bets, Drake has accumulated net losses of approximately $1.55 million.

Across roughly 87 public wagers, he has staked a total of $38.72 million and collected $37.17 million in returns. He has won 32 of those bets and lost 55, giving him a win rate of 36.8%. His average wager stands at approximately $445,080.

According to the site, soccer accounts for the largest share of Drake’s losses. Meanwhile, the UFC is the sport on which he has wagered the most money, with $14.45 million spread across 26 public bets.

Soccer, boxing, and Formula 1 have generated the largest losses in his betting portfolio, while cricket and basketball have been his most profitable sports.
