Euphoria among Russian soldiers on stumbling upon what they had been chasing for 3 years: “As if they had invaded Berlin”
A drone hit a Panzerhaubitze 2000, a huge German tank.
A recording of a fibre-optically controlled FPV drone striking a German Panzerhaubitze 2000 howitzer (PzH 2000) used in the Russia-Ukraine war has caused huge excitement on Russian Telegram channels, with Russians celebrating the destruction of the howitzer “as if they had once again invaded Berlin.”
The clip, posted online, shows the drone hitting the highly flammable area on the vehicle where the propellant charges are stored. However, there is no news as to whether the crew were inside or not; if so, they were likely unharmed.
Such a find for the Russians marks what could be the first or possibly second loss of this type of weapon for Ukraine; the only other vehicle of this nature to be found came back in May 2024.
It looks like the Russians had a lucky day... They spotted a PzH 2000 engaging Russian positions, tracked it on its way to its shelter and then used an FPV drone to hit it where the propellant charges are stored.

Ukraine received a total of 27 PzH 2000 howitzers from Germany, the Netherlands, and Italy.
According to KNDS, a German defence company, say that “the PzH 2000 is a highly mobile and flexible weapon system... These properties make the PzH 2000 the most effective barrelled artillery system in the world.
A report from The Huffington Post suggests that howitzers are among the most complex machines in modern warfare, requiring extensive maintenance and being less durable in harsh wartime conditions compared to simpler alternatives like the “Polish Crabs.”
The report adds that these are considered more basic units while the “Polish Crabs” can achieve similar targeting effects and are said to be far less likely to be withdrawn from the front lines for repairs.
