Goodbye Social Security: Elon Musk came out and said it “That’s the big one to eliminate”

Elon Musk is set to make heavy cuts to Social Security in another move by DOGE.

Update:

Even before his election victory, Donald Trump was keen to push his new hatchet man: Elon Musk. Head of Tesla and SpaceX, he is now the leader of DOGE, the newly-formed Department of Government Efficiency in charge of cleaning up the so-called wasted money being spent by Federal agencies across the country.

So far, the unelected South African has made plenty of noises about cutting benefits for America’s most needy, and it seems that Musk has now taken his biggest step forward yet in cutting Social Security and Medicare, the service that provides millions of elderly Americans with literally life-saving money.

In an interview with Fox Business, Elon Musk repeated the line that “most of Federal spending is entitlements” and added that it was “the big one to eliminate.”

Musk continues to lie about America’s safety nets

Musk, the world’s richest man, clearly doesn’t need to worry about Medicare payments coming in when he gets sick. But Forbes noted that this year, 67.3 million people are enrolled in a Medicare plan, close to one fifth of the entire population, with “nearly 90% of beneficiaries at least 65 years old.”

He also went on to claim, without evidence, that there’s $700 billion in “waste and fraud” when it comes to the policies. Until now, his facts and figures have been hugely unreliable, with the DOGE website a jam-packed pot of misinformation, claiming hugely inflated savings that reach the billions.

At the time of writing, Rolling Stone reports that DOGE has “closed 10 Social Security Administration field offices, with plans to close dozens more, while also eliminating workers who were meant to help seniors access their benefits.” Musk has also, on a number of occasions, falsely suggested that Social Security payments could be going out to dead people, while also baselessly calling Social Security “the biggest Ponzi scheme of all time.”
