He had the genius idea to register pizza.com in the ’90s and now he’s a millionaire
Maryland native Chris Clark registered the domain name in 1994 and made a fortune upon selling it in 2008.

Maryland native Chris Clark was ahead of the game as he registered the Pizza.com domain in 1994 for just $20.
After Clark saw successful sales of other domain names — such as Vodka.com, which sold for $3 million, the man from North Potomac was determined to turn a profit of his own. In 2008, he auctioned Pizza.com, ultimately selling it for $2.6 million, cementing himself as a millionaire.
Speaking to the BBC, he said: “I thought, ‘Why don’t I just try to see what the level of interest is?’
Fun fact.

“If someone’s willing to pay that much for Vodka.com, maybe there’s more interest in pizza.com.”
He listed it in an online auction two months later, and the offers soon rolled in.
Pizza.com is now a website full of articles about pizza and delivery deals, but no specific pizzeria chain currently owns it.
