How much money does a Walmart warehouse employee make in 2024?

The retail supply giant offers a significant range of salaries depending on the job offered.

Walmart operates one of the largest supply chains worldwide, providing products to customers at over 10,600 stores in more than twenty countries. All of this would be impossible without their workers. These jobs can be difficult, requiring workers to be on their feet and lift and move heavy objects, all while serving customers in stores.

The company’s website says it employs more than 2.1 million worldwide, with frontline store workers in the United States having a minimum wage of $17.50. Before taxes are applied, the annual income for a full-time worker who works 2,080 hours a year comes to $36,400. This would place the average Walmart worker in the second lowest tax bracket, meaning the federal government will tax 12 percent of their income. Additional taxes could be levied against the salary if they live in a state that taxes income. A study published by the Government Accountability Office in 2020 found that Walmart workers were among some of the highest recipients of social assistance programs, including SNAP and Medicaid. Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders has called attention to this fact, arguing that the US taxpayers should not be subsidizing the low wages of companies that make billions in profits while their workers aren’t paid enough to keep food on the table for themselves and their families.

However, not all workers are offered this salary. Those who work in the warehouse are often paid below this wage, with some complaining that they are only paid $10 per hour, 57 percent less than that offered to workers in front-line positions.
