Some Walmart employees will start February on the right foot.

The retail giant has announced a salary increase for store managers in the United States. According to official information from the company, the increase will be implemented 9% annually on the $117,000 yearly salary registered in 2023, resulting in a salary of $128,000 per year by 2024.

In addition to the salary increase, the company will also offer up to 200% of the salary to managers in annual bonuses based on the profits and sales of their respective stores, resulting in a much improved compensation package. The salary hikes will come into effect as of Feb. 1.

In 2023, the company had already applied an increase to the salaries of American employees to between $14 and $19 per hour, depending on the location of the store. These increases come in response to the high turnover rate in the company. According to a Checkr survey, reported by CBS News, 74% of Walmart store workers were actively looking for another job in 2023.

How many Walmart stores are there in the United States?

Walmart stands out for being the largest warehouse chain in the world. The company has more than 2.1 million employees around the world, of which 1.6 million can be found in the United States. According to the company’s website, the retailer has more than 10,500 stores globally, 4,622 of which are in the US.

This means that more than 4,600 managers will see an increase in their paychecks starting next month.

The best and worst paying jobs at Walmart

Although being a manager at Walmart will give you a great salary, this position is far from being one of the best paid in the company.

Employees who operate within the corporate sector of the company, or those who supervise the organization’s activities at a financial and stock level, are the ones who earn the most. According to the database of Glassdoor, a recognized job board software in the United States, these jobs have an average annual salary of more than $580,000.

On the other end of the scale, the worst salaries go to Cap 1 members, who are in charge of removing all the things from the back room to put them on the shelves. The average annual salary of these workers range from $27,000 to $31,000.
