Husband tells wife he wants a “hot nanny” to watch the kids: You won’t believe who got the job
Vencent Hickerson told his wife that he wanted a “hot nanny”; he was shocked when he saw who turned up.
When Vencent “Bigg Vinny” Hickerson half-jokingly told his wife he wanted a “hot nanny” for their kids, but his tongue-in-cheek wish quickly turned into real life moment of spontaneous hilarity.
During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Hickerson couple in Franklin, Tennessee, were seven months pregnant, their gym was closed for lockdown, and they suddenly found themselves with a two-and-a-half-year-old son needing constant care. Potential nannies they’d considered had lined up elsewhere or quit and they were out of options.
That’s when Vinny turned to his friend, AJ Gatio, a former first-grade teacher who’d recently shifted full-time to music after gigs dried up during the lockdown. Vinny told him, “Hey, why don’t you become our nanny? At least I can count on you, and my wife gets a hot nanny.” What started as a joke quickly became a workable plan.
Gatio arrived at their home five days a week (sometimes more), fully committed with a guaranteed salary. His days were full of imaginative babysitting: “AJ would come five days a week, sometimes more, but I guaranteed his compensation on at least five a week so he could be devoted to us during that time,” Hickerson explained to PEOPLE. “He would literally take my son outside and they would play superheroes, ride his tractor down the hill, look for animals and just have a blast outside.”
“[Gatio] would eat dinner with us at night and he and I would also workout together when my son was napping or when mama felt like having some mama-son time,” he added.
“I can’t tell you how many times other moms or my wife’s friends would be like, ‘Umm, who’s that and is he single?’ ” Hickerson joked. “How many of my guy friends would be like, ‘Are you crazy? Why would you let a GQ model stay at your house with your wife?’ The answer was pretty simple for me.”
