According to the IDF, some 30 aircraft attacked dozens of targets in the areas of Isfahan, Bushehr, and Ahvaz, as well as Yazd, an area that had not yet been affected by the airstrikes Israel launched on June 13.

Israel reports it carried out attacks on missile infrastructure, in some cases on positions from which projectiles were allegedly fired toward Israel. The IDF has stated in its report that it will continue to launch these types of operations with a view to "eliminating the military threat" from Iran.

The US attack on Iran's nuclear facilities early this morning risks turning a regional dispute into a conflict of global proportions, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said Sunday.

"As Türkiye, we have consistently warned about the risk of the conflict, sparked by Israeli aggression, spreading throughout the region and destabilizing the security environment. The US attack carried out today (22 June) on Iran's nuclear facilities has elevated that risk to its highest level," a statement from the Ministry said.

"Türkiye is deeply concerned about the potential consequences of the US attack… The current developments could escalate the regional conflict into a global one. We do not want to see this catastrophic scenario materialize," it emphasized.

Iranian President Pezeshkian Points to the US as Responsible for the Attack on Iran

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has stated that the US attack on Iran's nuclear facilities is conclusive evidence that the US government is truly responsible for the aggression that began nine days ago against the country because Israel is incapable of carrying out such an action without Washington's support.

"Last night's US attack on some of the country's nuclear facilities demonstrated that the United States is the main cause of the Zionist regime's hostile actions against the Islamic Republic of Iran," the president stated in a meeting with his cabinet.

Israel Detects Several Cluster Missiles in Iran Attack

The Israeli Army has detected the use of several cluster missiles fired by Iran toward Israel. These missiles consist of a projectile carrying 20 small bomblets that disperse before or upon impact, according to an official from the Home Front Command, the military body that sets security guidelines for the Israeli population.

"We have experienced some cases [of this munition being used]," he said in a virtual press conference, explaining thatthe warheads of these missiles are divided into 20 tiny warheads. This gives the projectiles a very long range, a couple miles.

According to the official, these missiles pose a great risk to the population and their use in Israel "is not something local," but has been reported in different locations.

Asked whether Iran used this type of munition in its attack on Israel this Sunday, he said it is still being investigated and that they will have an answer by the end of the day.

Last Friday, the Israeli Army reported for the first time that it had detected this type of munition, which is banned in more than 100 countries.

Pope Leo XIV speaks out about escalating violence in the Middle East

Alarming news continues to emerge from the Middle East, especially from Iran. Against this tragic backdrop, which includes Israel and Palestine, people’s daily suffering, especially in Gaza and the other territories, where the need for adequate humanitarian aid is becoming increasingly urgent, risks being forgotten.

Today more than ever, humanity cries out and calls for peace. This is a cry that requires responsibility and reason, and it must not be drowned out by the din of weapons or the rhetoric that incites conflict. Every member of the international community has a moral responsibility to stop the tragedy of war before it becomes an irreparable chasm. There are no “distant” conflicts when human dignity is at stake.

War does not solve problems; on the contrary, it amplifies them and inflicts deep wounds on the history of peoples, which take generations to heal. No armed victory can compensate for the pain of mothers, the fear of children, or stolen futures. May diplomacy silence the weapons! May nations chart their futures with works of peace, not with violence and bloodstained conflicts!
