Amazon has become the go-to store for many buyers due to the convenience of online shopping. However, there are some things you can’t get on the platform.
Amazon is the biggest online retailer in the world, earning a net income of $30 billion last year. It’s the easiest place to go when looking for practically anything, whether you’re searching for useful everyday items, last-minute gifts, or the latest gadgets.
The wide variety of products available on the online marketplace is even represented in their logo, with the arrow suggesting that the shop has everything from A to Z.
However, there are some things you won’t be able to find on Amazon. As part of the company’s efforts to protect their brand and their shoppers as a third-party marketplace, they have restricted some products from being sold on the site.

Pets, for example, are thankfully not available, as they would obviously suffer through the whole shopping process.
Amazon has also forbidden the sale of items that promote or glorify hatred, violence, or intolerance, such as Nazi propaganda and anti-LGBTQ reading material.
Firearms and ammunition, explosives, and related items are also restricted.
The company is also banning counterfeit items, as well as those that make false claims.
Here is a list of other products and services that are prohibited by Amazon.
- Spray paint
- Compressed air guns or pellets and paintball guns
- Recovery products after alcohol consumption or hangover cures or treatments
- Alcohol: products intended to disguise or hide alcohol
- Anti-radiation products (including electromagnetic field protection products and radiation neutralization or shielding products)
- Bows and arrows, slings and other projectile weapons
- Coupon sites
- Cryptocurrencies
- Escort services, adult dating, sex toys and official products
- Etching creams
- Fat burners, fat freezers and fat blockers
- Fertility clinics and fertility research
- Pyramid or “get rich quick” networks
- Firearm safety certificates
- Illegal and recreational drugs, drug paraphernalia, drug testing kits, or drug test passing products
- Illegal or sensitive pharmaceutical or health device products and services
- Oils, supplements, or ingestible products that contain or are derived from hemp, cannabidiol (CBD), or THC, or are otherwise related to cannabis
- Medical research and procedures
- Tobacco or tobacco-related products, including electronic cigarettes
- Knives (except kitchen knives, table knives and general multi-purpose camping knives)
- Sales of lethal and non-lethal weapons, including firearms, gun parts, kits, gun racks, mace, powder and ammunition
- Loyalty, affinity or rewards, and related content
- Malicious software, fake antivirus and spyware
- Online pharmacies
- Prenatal sex selection and determination products and services
- Premium pay-per-call services, such as 900 numbers in the United States
- Products, services, technology or website content that i) infringe, encourage or permit the infringement of the intellectual property or personal rights of third parties, or ii) promote any illegal or dangerous activity, such as false documentation services, counterfeit designs, cable boxes, fireworks or websites that promote piracy or evasion of law enforcement
- Clairvoyants and related content
- Religious or spiritual services
- Shock collars (including pet training collars with any type of shock feature) and choke/choke collars
- Short-term loans with high interest rates, a repayment period of less than 12 months and an APR greater than 50%
- Dance poles
- Tattoo and body marking products and services
- Testosterone boosters
- UV tanning equipment and services
