It’s not Germany or Spain: this European country has a national dish that’s basically deep-fried pizza
Deep fried pizza could be a mainstay of your next international vacation if you choose to visit this European country.

Lovers of pizza should consider putting Hungary on their dream vacation list, as one of the most common street foods served up is reminiscent of a deep-fried pie. Lángos is a street food beloved in Hungary’s capital, Budapest, and consists of a deep-fried flatbread that is often covered in cold cheese.
The traditional dish is thought to have come to Hungary during the Turkish occupation of the country during the 16th and 17th centuries.
Freshly baked bread was not always as readily available as it is in European countries like Hungary today. As bread was introduced into the diet, it was traditionally baked about once a week, a household activity that brought families and neighbors together. During this weekly baking ritual, some of the dough was intentionally saved to create lángos, that was often enjoyed at breakfast and served with various toppings such as sour cream, cheese, and garlic.
How is Lángos made?
Like pizza dough, the recipe is quite simple. By mixing together flour, salt, sugar, yeast, and milk and letting it rise, it can then be stretched into small circles that are then submerged in hot oil. The traditional topping combines olive oil and garlic cloves, and then covered with sour cream and cheese.
