Jeff Bezos optimistic about Trump's second term: "I’m going to help him”
Billionaire and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has expressed optimism about the second term of Donald Trump, whom he expects to reduce regulations.
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has expressed optimism about the second term of Donald Trump, with whom he locked horns during the president-elect’s first stint at the White House.
Speaking at The New York Times DealBook Summit, Bezos said he is hopeful “this time around,” and stated his willingness to help out Trump.
“He seems to have a lot of energy around reducing regulation,” he said. “If I can help him do that, I’m going to help him.” The billionaire also said Trump was “calmer this time.”
During Trump’s first term, he criticized Bezos- whom he referred to as “Jeff Bozo”- and his companies, including The Washington Post and Amazon. He said the online retail giant was “doing great damage to tax paying retailers,” adding that “towns, cities, and states throughout the U.S. are being hurt.

Bezos was criticized for forbidding the Post from backing a candidate in the recent election. He wrote an op-ed piece explaining that such endorsements only project partiality by media outlets.
The world’s second-richest man said he will try to convince the president-elect that “the press in not the enemy.” Trump had said in the past that “much of what it says is fake news, pushing a political agenda or just plain trying to hurt people.”

Speaking on Elon Musk’s appointment as co-leader of the Department of Government Efficiency or DOGE, he said he didn’t expect the Tesla CEO to use his new position against his competitors.
Bezos owns Blue Origin, which is in competition with Musk’s SpaceX for government contracts.
