Joel Rodríguez believed he was taking a necessary step to protect his family. Living in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, he hired a company to repair his home. What was supposed to be a solution, however, turned into a nightmare. “Things didn’t turn out at all as I expected,” he said, describing a process that, instead of improving his home, worsened his personal and financial situation.

According to testimony shared by Univision, Rodríguez paid thousands of dollars to a company, RPR Solutions LLC, that promised to complete structural repairs. The work was never finished and, in some cases, was left incomplete or poorly done, leaving the house in worse condition than before. Furthermore, the company didn’t get the required permits and the family is not allowed to live in the house.

“I trusted them because they seemed professional, but then they disappeared,” Rodríguez explained.

This case highlights a recurring problem in Hispanic communities, including vulnerability to unreliable contractors and the difficulty of holding them legally accountable. Rodríguez decided to speak out publicly to warn others and prevent them from going through the same experience. “I do not want this to happen to another family,” he said.

Authorities recommend verifying licenses, contracts, and references before making any upfront payments. Meanwhile, Joel Rodríguez continues seeking justice and a way to recover what he lost, hoping his story will serve as a warning to other households in North Carolina.
