Update:

If you didn’t realise it already, Jon Stewart is becoming the most coherent voice on America’s left, and he recently took to his official channels once again to make a solid argument against the sludge of hypocrisy that has covered the right like discharge from Shrek’s swamp.

In his recent podcast episode, in which he gives a platform to a number of guests across the political spectrum, Stewart raged at the clear disassociation between right-wing Trump supporters cheering for the state dinner held for Mohammed bin Salman, the leader of Saudi Arabia who, according to a CIA conclusion, ordered the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in 2018.

“What did we think they were? Are people surprised by it?” he asked the hosts rhetorically when the topic of America’s top businessmen turning up to the White House was brought up. “I cannot believe that the head of Apple, all the different [companies] would sit at a state dinner with the guy who is funnelling billions of dollars into their businesses.”

“One guy came after me and said: has he forgotten 9/11?’”

“With Mamdani, do you remember the right wing guys saying ‘how dare he take a picture with an iman? has he forgotten 9/11?’ One guy came after me: ‘he’s talking pleasantly with Madani, has he forgotten 9/11?’”

This, evidently and understandably, enraged the host of The Daily Show. What he said next needs a parental warning. Kids, turn away: “First of all,” he began, “fuck you. Fuck you to the highest order of fucking you that can be fucked. Don’t you ever ask me about that, you fuck.”

“And second of all,” Stewart continued, tears almost in his eyes, “your guy [Trump], hosted a LIV Golf tournament in the shadow of the towers with the Saudis and palled around with them, so again, let me repeat myself... fuck ya-hoo.” Let me be clear: this transcription is phonetic and has nothing to do with the American web portal.

“How dare they? I’ll even give it up for you: if you’re a businessman and they’ve got a funnel and you’ve never made the case that your business has any moral underpinnings whatsoever - so the idea that you want to hook up your mouth to the largest teat and just suck down as much of that glorious Saudi money as you can get to... but I’m sorry: LIV Golf tournaments are an elective. That is an elective. You make a choice like that, that is not something you business requires.”

“And so for any of those right-wing guys that want to go out there and criticise the associations between anybody that would even talk to Mamdani, that is so out there, look in the mirror, fuck-face. Sorry, what I meant to say was: no, I haven’t really thought about it," he concluded.
