Liam Payne’s girlfriend breaks silence after his tragic death: “I felt like I completely blacked out”
The tragic death of Liam Payne shocked the world. Now his girlfriend has spoken out for the first time.

Liam Payne’s girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, has spoken in public for the first time since the shocking death of her former partner.
Payne was 31-years-old when he tragically died in Argentina after falling from a hotel balcony, leaving behind Cassidy who has struggled hugely since then.
“I feel blessed I didn’t find out over social media because I just couldn’t even imagine that. I was in our home with our dog, scrolling TikTok and one of Liam’s friends called me”, she told The Sun newspaper.
Cassidy was hit with online criticism from fans after it was reported that she had left Argentina just days before the death of the pop star. While many speculated on relationship issues and even a potential break-up, Cassidy revealed that she simply travelled back to the States to take their of the dog the couple shared.
‘If I could see into the future, I would never have left Argentina’
“Obviously if I knew, if I could see into the future, I would never have left Argentina”, she lamented, “I had a responsibility, we had a responsibility. We had our dog and obviously I never, ever thought this event would occur... this wasn’t the first time we had travelled separately.”
The couple met back in September 2022 while Cassidy worked as a waitress in Charleston, South Carolina. They quickly hit it off and became an item soon after.
On the moment she found on about Payne’s passing, the influencer admitted that “that moment, is like blank; it’s blacked out in my head."

‘Why would somebody make this up? Is this true?’
“I didn’t believe it at first. I thought it was just a rumour. Or something that somebody made up just to get views. Then instantly I just had a bad feeling in my gut. I was like, ‘Why would somebody make this up? Is this true?’”
“And I feel like I just completely blacked out. When I officially found the news out to be true, I felt numb. I tried to call him. I called pretty much everybody.
“It still doesn’t feel fully real for me that he’s not here."
While the cause of Payne’s death was not an issue for investigation, much has been said about the former One Direction singer’s mental health, with addiction a huge issue for him. “With addiction, you just never know when it’s going to come out. It’s a serious issue that is under-valued and under-spoken about”, Cassidy was asked to reflect on his relapse but preferred not to speculate as to what brought it on.
“I supported Liam through thick and thin, and I always just loved his soul. I always wanted to be there for him. I genuinely always really did try to do anything I could do to help.”
“I’m trying to be the best I can be, but I feel like my life has changed so much. I think about Liam every second of every day... From the moment I met Liam, I genuinely believed we were soulmates; he was the most humble, charming, normal person you could ever hope to come across, and genuinely one of the best people I’ve ever met in my life", she concluded.
