Update:

As Donald Trump loudly paraded around the country as he made his ultimately successful case to become president once again, one person stayed away.

Melania Trump, the president’s third wife, has largely remained out of the spotlight, including some important events for her husband like the Super Tuesday primary election victory party and his criminal hush money trial in New York.

Now, in All or Nothing, a new book published by journalist Michael Wolff, it has been revealed that Melania actually laughed at the suggestion she accompany her husband on his political outings.

All or Nothing tells the story of Trump’s historic 2024 election campaign and how Melania kept out of the public eye during that time.

One excerpt of the book talks about Melania’s laughter at the attempt from Trump’s team to make her join him on the campaign, mentioning the fact that the couple keep “a careful distance from each other” and how, when she did fly on his private jet, it was just to “hitch a ride”.

Since the first indictment in New York, when Melania had simply laughed at the campaign's effort to get her to accompany her husband ('Nice try'), it had been clear that she wasn't going to show up. During the past year, she had yet to make a single campaign appearance. In only one instance in 2023 did she even appear on the plane—and then only hitching a ride. Magically, the Melania issue had not, in the White House years nor the Mar-a-Lago years—with both staffers and press quite aware of the Trumps' nontraditional living arrangements and their careful distance from each other— become an issue.

Where is Melania Trump?

Another chapter talks of Melania’s "absolutely refusing [of] every entreaty to speak or even to appear side by side with her husband“, while acknowledging that the president had largely - and perhaps fortunately - never had to directly address the question in public.

It was Ivanka Trump, the president’s eldest daughter, who attended the Super Bowl on Melania’s behalf; the first lady was also absent during the president’s meetings with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba.

Melania continued to be an additional freak-out, absolutely refusing every entreaty to speak or even to appear side by side with her husband. He had never faced point-blank questions from the media about their relationship. But what if 'Where's Melania?' started now in earnest? But that was all before the shooting...now the attempt on Trump's life not only made him again incontrovertibly the central figure of the moment, if not the age, giving him a maximum hero's electoral mantle, but it also repositioned his convention as the joyous and abject coronation of which he dreamed.

Melania has not been seen in public since January 24, when the pair flew to Los Angeles to observe the damage caused by the horrendous wildfires that spread across the region.
