Men are still wearing rings, just not wedding bands: Here’s what guys are choosing for comfort and safety
Men are swapping diamonds for silicone rings—safe, affordable, and gym-friendly, while still honoring the symbol of commitment.

Though much has been discussed about the decline in demand for diamonds—particularly in engagement rings—very little attention has been paid to the alternative styles men are opting for these days.
Rather than silver or gold, many are turning to silicone, which was once primarily popular among men in the trades due to its safety benefits. Unlike traditional rings, silicone bands break under pressure, reducing the risk of injury.
The symbol remains as the construction changes
As more couples move away from the diamond market—whether for ethical or economic reasons—wedding and engagement rings remain important cultural symbols that couples aren’t ready to abandon.
Now, the trend is expanding. The team at Men’s Health recommends that men with heavy workout routines consider making the switch. In their coverage, doctors and trainers note that silicone rings are “designed to be symbols, safeguard your valuables, and protect your digits.” One trainer emphasized that his ring allows him to “show my commitment in my marriage” without worrying about damaging it at the gym.
Affordability is another major benefit. Many silicone rings are available for under $50, which is especially helpful for men who need to remove their rings for work and are more likely to misplace them.
Some of the options tested and approved by the Men’s Health team included the QALO ring, which was rated highly for its sleek design and comfort while working out.
The Groove Life’s Nomad Burled Walnut Ring was also rated highly, and offers a 94-year warranty that comes in a variety of colors, all with a clean matte finish.
